Alexa gets Multilingual mode in the US

There are reports that Amazon has launched Multilingual mode for Alexa. Following the new feature in hand, Alexa users in the US will now be able to speak with their Alexa devices in Spanish. The users in the US will now have the option to either communicate with the smart assistant in English or they can even use Spanish to ask questions from the smart speaker.

Amazon, at its Echo event last month, announced the feature, and it is now rolling out in pairs in three countries: English and Spanish in the US,Canadian English and French in Canada and Indian English and Hindi in India, the reports added.

“Multilingual mode is meant to let users switch between languages quickly, as bilingual speakers may do at home with their families. With billions of people in the world speaking more than one language, many homes are not homogenous when it comes to languages anymore,” Amazon explained in the announcement.

The company also launched the Amazon Skills Kit for developers back in April to build skills for Spanish speakers, and these skills can now be released for customers to buy in the US Skills store.

The feature which Amazon has released lately will be of utmost importance in the Unites States. And the reason behind this is that Spanish is the second-most widely spoken language in the US.

We have reports that Amazon is pretty much late in the market to come up with multilingual support for its Alexa. Google already added multilingual support features to its Google Assistantin 2018, and its been years since Siri has been speaking multiple languages. But this has not affected the Alexa fans in anyway and they are pretty much happy with the new update.
